🐹 HammyTurf.io – Free Online Multiplayer Hamster Turf War Game

HammyTurf is a free online multiplayer turf war game where you play as a hamster fighting for territory. No sign-up needed — it runs right in your browser.

This section is a summary. For detailed explanations and survival tips, see the Game Guide (Beginner Strategy Guide · FAQ).

How to Play

  • Mouse: your hamster moves toward the cursor.
  • Touch (mobile): touch anywhere on the screen and slide in the direction you want to go. Your hamster keeps going straight after you lift your finger.
  • Emoji: while playing, tap one of the four buttons at the bottom left (👍 😢 😱 🆘) to show that emoji above your hamster for a few seconds — everyone on the stage can see it. On a computer you can also press Q / W / E / R (matching the buttons in order). On mobile, you can keep steering with one finger and tap a button with another.

Rules

  • Leave your turf and you draw a trail (a tail) behind you.
  • Return to your turf to claim everything you enclosed.
  • If another player steps on the trail you're drawing, you're out — and all of your turf becomes theirs.
  • Step on an opponent's trail and you take them down, claiming all of their turf.
  • Step on your own trail and it rewinds to that point (you're not eliminated).
  • Trails and step-on checks are based on the center of the hamster's body, not the tip of its nose. Just brushing a line with your nose doesn't count.
  • Everyone moves at the same speed.

🛡️ Trail Shield (Barrier)

In the LINE mini app version, watching a video ad to the end before you play gives you a trail shield for that run. A shielded hamster is covered by a translucent dome and its trail is wrapped in a cover. If an opponent steps on your shielded trail, you survive once: the shield breaks instead (it does not protect you from being enclosed).

The web version has no video ads, so the shield is not available here for now (undecided). It is planned for the upcoming app version. Web players share the same stages as the LINE mini app, so remember that a hamster under a dome takes two hits to bring down.

Solo and Team Battle

There are two modes: Solo and Team Battle. Switch anytime with the "Game Mode" toggle on the home screen (each mode has its own stages).

  • Solo: a free-for-all survival battle. As per the rules above, defeat someone and their whole turf is yours. The current leader wears a 👑 crown.
  • Team Battle: a four-team showdown — Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow. When you join, you're automatically placed on the team with the fewest players.

Team Battle differs from Solo in the following ways:

  • Turf is shared by the whole team. Any teammate's turf counts as your own — return to it to complete an enclosure, and the captured area becomes team turf.
  • Teammates' trails are safe to step on. Takedowns only happen between opposing teams.
  • If you're taken down, you only lose yourself — your team's turf stays. But if a team's turf disappears completely, the whole team is eliminated.
  • Rankings are based on team share. 🌻 Sunflower seeds and their bonus (+20% each) are also counted per team.
  • Survive to the end of the round, and your team's share divided by the number of members is added to your lifetime score. 🌻 Seeds collected work the same way: the team's seed count divided by the number of members (12 seeds ÷ 4 players = 3.0). ⚔️ Kills count only opponents you took down yourself — teammates' kills are not included.
  • While playing, every member of the leading team wears a 👑 crown.

Sunflower Seeds (Bonus Spots)

🌻 Sunflower seeds are scattered around the stage. While a seed sits inside your turf, your share is boosted by +20% per seed. Seeds never disappear — if the turf around one is captured, the bonus changes hands too. They're strategic strongholds worth fighting over.

The Bar on the Left (Space Meter)

While you play, a vertical bar appears on the left edge of the screen. It shows how much of the stage is covered by turf: 0% at the top, 100% at the bottom (completely full).

  • The bar is divided into colored segments — one per player in Solo, one per team in Team Battle — stacked largest first. (This is raw turf share; 🌻 seed bonuses aren't included.)
  • The red zone near the bottom marks the end-of-round line. When turf fills up to that point, the ending countdown begins and the bar flashes to let you know.

Rounds and Ranks

  • When the stage runs out of open space (the left bar reaches the red zone), the ending countdown begins and the remaining seconds appear at the top right. When the round ends, the final share rankings are announced and a fresh stage begins.
  • Survive to the end of the round and your share (%) at that moment is added to your lifetime score. Rounds where you were eliminated don't count.
  • Your lifetime score determines your player rank (R1–R100), shown next to your name.

Lifetime Kills and Seeds Collected

Alongside your lifetime score and rank, two more records are kept and shown on the title screen and the round-over screen. Neither affects your rank — they're keepsake numbers that show how you play.

  • ⚔️ Lifetime kills: the total number of opponents you've taken down. Each kill is added the moment it happens and is never taken back, even if you're eliminated later in the same round. In Team Battle, only your own kills count — not your teammates'.
  • 🌻 Seeds collected: when you survive to the end of a round, the number of sunflower seeds you hold at that moment is added (same timing as lifetime score; eliminated rounds add nothing). In Solo Match that's the seeds inside your turf; in Team Battle it's the team's seed count divided by the number of members (12 seeds ÷ 4 players = 3.0), recorded in steps of 0.1.

Saving and Transferring Your Data

Your lifetime score (rank), kills, seeds collected, and nickname are saved automatically on the server, tied to your personal transfer code issued the first time you play. Your browser only stores that code, so clearing your browser data means losing access to your records.

To be ready for a new phone or a different browser, keep a transfer URL in your email:

  • The button opens your device's email app with the transfer URL filled in. Send the email to yourself and keep it.
  • On your new device, tap the URL in that email and the transfer is complete — your lifetime stats and nickname are restored there. Any existing data on that device is replaced by the transferred data.
  • If tapping the URL doesn't open the game properly, copy the URL and paste it into your browser's address bar.

Rank Appearance (Legend)

Ranks are shown as patterns on your hamster's back. New elements unlock at milestones and keep growing in between, so every rank from R1 to R100 looks different.
