Rounds and Ranks
HammyTurf is played in rounds. A round ends when the stage fills up with turf. Survive to the end and your lifetime score grows, and lifetime score determines your player rank (R1–R100). This page explains the flow and the math.
How a round goes
- When you join, you enter a stage that is already in progress. Rounds do not wait for everyone to start together.
- When total turf on the stage reaches about 60% (the left bar hits the red zone), a 30-second ending countdown begins and the remaining seconds appear at the top right.
- When the countdown reaches zero the round ends. The final share rankings are announced and a fresh stage is built.
- Surviving players carry straight on into the next round.
When lifetime score is added
- Survive to the end of the round and your share (%) at that moment is added to your lifetime score. In Solo that is your own share; in Team Battle it is the team's share divided by the number of members.
- Rounds where you were eliminated add nothing, no matter how much turf you had before.
- It is the share at the end that counts. A big early lead means nothing if your turf is small when the round ends.
In other words, the fastest way to raise your lifetime score is simply not to get taken down. A small turf that survives is worth more than a huge loop that briefly puts you in first place.
How player rank (R1–R100) is calculated
Rank is the square root of your lifetime score. A score of 100 is R10, 400 is R20, 2,500 is R50, and 10,000 is the maximum, R100 (rounded down, minimum R1, maximum R100).
| Rank | Lifetime score needed | Roughly |
|---|---|---|
| R10 | 100 | Survive 10 rounds at 10% |
| R20 | 400 | Survive 40 rounds at 10% |
| R30 | 900 | Survive 60 rounds at 15% |
| R50 | 2,500 | Survive 125 rounds at 20% |
| R100 | 10,000 | Survive 500 rounds at 20% |
- Each rank needs more score than the last. Early ranks come every round or two; later ones take dozens of rounds.
- Your rank is shown next to your name during play and reflected in the pattern on your hamster's back. New elements unlock at milestones, and every rank from R1 to R100 looks different (see the legend in the About section on the home page).
- Rank does not change your speed or strength. It is purely a record of how often you have survived.
Rank up
When your lifetime score reaches the next rank at the end of a round, the result screen shows "Rank Up!". Ranks never go down, so once you reach one it is yours to keep.
The other two lifetime records, kills and seeds collected, are explained in Lifetime Kills and Seeds Collected.
